Disclaimer: Engaging with this website may make you very annoying to people who “just want to watch the movie.”  🙂

A movie can be a persuasive tool. How about the same movie repeated over and over again, modified just enough to try to keep it fresh and engaging? That repetition can change how you think on a very deep level if you aren’t willing to engage it critically.

Monomyth is the movie formula of our day—for children and for adults. The person and work of Jesus Christ is central to our belief as Christians; the way we understand who our Savior is and who we are as his followers can be shaped by this formula if we don’t hold it up to God’s Word.

Monomyth’s influence unchecked can lead to two very destructive conclusions:

  1. Jesus is the monomyth hero. (I understand Jesus through the lens of monomyth, not the Bible.)
  1. I am the monomyth hero. (I am Jesus.)

All this is the reason for MonoDude: Monomyth Meets Christian Worldview. In MonoDude, the main characters, boy-girl twins, enter into the monomyth cycle, guided by the hero himself, MonoDude, only to be disenchanted with the journey and to begin to think biblically about it.

The forum of this website is not for defending your favorite movie or bashing your least favorite, but for candidly “spying MonoDude” and then looking beyond him to “seek Christ.”
